Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all dog training and behaviour services provided by Louise Kirby Dog Training

By booking a session or programme you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. Booking and Payment

All sessions and training programmes must be booked in advance.

Payment may be required at the time of booking or on the day of the session unless otherwise agreed.

Training programmes must be paid for in full before the first session unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed.

2. Cancellations and Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide as much notice as possible.

I endeavour to be flexible; however, I reserve the right to charge the full session fee for cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.

If I need to cancel a session due to illness, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, the session will be rearranged at the earliest mutually convenient time.

3. Training Environment

For sessions held at your home or chosen training location, the training area must be safe, secure, and clear of dog mess before the session begins.

If the training environment is considered unsuitable or unsafe, the session may need to be postponed or relocated.

4. Responsibility for Your Dog

You remain fully responsible for your dog at all times during training sessions.

Dogs must be handled safely and in accordance with the guidance provided during the session.

Louise Kirby Dog Training accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage caused by the dog during or after training sessions.

5. Disclosure of Behaviour Issues

Owners must disclose any known behavioural concerns prior to the session, including but not limited to:

  • aggression towards people
  • aggression towards other dogs
  • biting history
  • guarding behaviour
  • extreme fear or anxiety

Failure to disclose relevant behavioural history may result in the session being stopped.

6. Welfare and Training Methods

Training is conducted using positive, reward-based methods.

By booking a session you agree not to use aversive training methods including but not limited to:

  • prong collars
  • choke chains
  • electronic collars
  • spray collars
  • physical punishment or intimidation

If the welfare of the dog is compromised or aversive training methods are used, I reserve the right to discontinue services.

7. Health and Vaccinations

Dogs attending training sessions should be in good health.

Where advised, the owner agrees to obtain a full veterinary examination for their dog prior to the commencement of training or behaviour work.

If your dog is unwell or recovering from illness or injury, please notify me as soon as possible to rearrange the session.

It is your responsibility to ensure your dog is appropriately vaccinated or protected as advised by your veterinary surgeon.

8. Safety

If at any point a situation is considered unsafe for the trainer, owner, dog, or members of the public, the session may be paused or terminated.

9. Training Results

Training and behaviour modification require consistent practice by the owner.

While every effort will be made to support you and your dog, no guarantees can be made regarding specific training outcomes.

10. Refund Policy

Training Programmes

If after the first session of a training programme you decide that my style of training is not the right fit for you, you must notify me within 12 hours of the session ending.

In this case, I will refund any unused sessions in the programme.

The first session itself is non-refundable, as the training service will already have been delivered.

Refunds are not available once the programme has progressed beyond the first session.

Behaviour Consultations

Due to the time involved in preparation, assessment and advice, behaviour consultations are non-refundable.

11. Photography and Video

From time to time, photographs or short videos may be taken during training sessions for training records, educational purposes, or promotional use, including on websites or social media.

Where possible, identifiable images of owners will not be used without permission.

If you do not wish for your dog to be photographed or filmed, please notify me before the session begins.

12. Data Protection

Any personal information collected during booking or training sessions will be used only for the purpose of providing training services and communication regarding those services.

Your personal data will not be shared with third parties unless required by law.

13. Agreement

By booking a session or training programme you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

14. Training in Public Spaces

Some training sessions may take place in public locations such as parks, beaches, or other open spaces.

These environments are not controlled, and other members of the public, dogs, wildlife, or unexpected events may be present.

While every effort will be made to choose suitable training locations, Louise Kirby Dog Training cannot guarantee that the environment will be free from distractions or interruptions.

Owners remain responsible for their dog at all times and must follow guidance given during the session to ensure the safety of their dog, other dogs, and members of the public.
